Water pipes are very difficult to install after your kitchen is in. Pipes are usually hidden behind the wall linings so the position of your sink, dishwasher and ice maker fridge have to be planned early in the process. The pipe work should be installed before the wall is lined in a new house or as soon as the old kitchen is removed. Pipe ends are plugged until your appliances are installed.
You will want to have hot water at your sink so if your hot water cylinder is a long way from the sink (and your pipes run through the loft) ensure that they are properly lagged. As a back-up you can have a small electric water heater installed under the sink.
Gas installations must be installed by an approved gas fitter. The pipe work for gas can be installed at the same time as the water pipes.
